Homemade Astringent

Astringents whisk away surface dirt and clear away excess skin oils. They are also skin fresheners because the astringents bring tissues to a healthier tone. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:  1/4 tsp borax    3 T. distilled water    2 tsp vodka    3 T. rose water

Combine the borax and water together in the top of a double boiler. Keep at least an inch of water in bottom pot of the double boiler. Turn stove to low heat. Stir the mixture while it’s cooking. When the borax has dissolved and the liquid is clear, remove it from the burner. Let the mixture cool for about ten minutes. Add the vodka and rose water. Stir until well blended. Makes about 1/2 cup. Dip a cotton ball or the edge of a cloth inside the astringent and wash face with it. Allow face to air dry
